Job Description:
Oversee the operation of the butchery department, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Perform skilled butchery tasks, including cutting, trimming, boning, tying, and grinding meats.
Maintain impeccable standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the department.
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure freshness and quality of meat products.
Provide expert advice and recommendations to customers regarding meat selection, preparation, and cooking techniques.
Train and mentor junior staff in butchery skills and customer service excellence.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive retail experience for customers.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Butcher or a similar role in the meat processing industry, with a minimum of 3 years' experience preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of meat types, cuts, and preparation methods.
Proficiency in using butchery tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with customers and provide expert advice.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
A team player with leadership potential, capable of training and motivating staff.
High school diploma or equivalent; a certificate or diploma in butchery, meat processing, or a related field is a plus.
